That’s my ranking among the world’s richest people. Our world population clocks in at nearly 6.7 billion right now. So, this places me in the top 5% most-rich people in the world.

You can see where you rank on the Global Rich List Web site. That’s not to be mistaken with your Amazon Wish List, which surely is getting some attention this time of year.

And while we’re on the topic of wish lists, I’ll draw attention to this stat from the Global Rich List Web site:

$2400 could buy you a second generation high definition TV or schooling for an entire generation of school children in an Angolan village.

I’ll sadly confess that I have been spending a lot of time lately picking out a new TV for myself. I’ve never owned my own and will probably be living by myself in a couple months. Now, I’m not among those who would claim we shoudn’t have nice things… This information just helps us keep it all in perspective.

The point here is to not feel bad for being an American. Just because we’re among the most rich people in the world does not mean we’re bad or greedy people. Even people on welfare in America are going to be among the most rich people in the world.

God has placed all of us here for a reason. The point is to find out from Him what the reason is, come in line with that reason, and be a good steward of the resources He provides to carry out that reason.

Thanks for the post, Otis.

Come on down, love to have you guys come and visit. I am free the next few months.

Not to add onto your comment about getting stuff…but I am getting a new bed this week and new furniture soon. I am 28 years old and still have never owned anything new (besides the TV –so sad!) I figure I was due for an upgrade! I am supper pumped! I am a grown-up now eh?
