Exasperation

Ephesians 6:4 says: “Fathers, do not exasperate your children…” (NIV).

I submit this parenthetical addition for inclusion in the Canon: Bosses, do not exasperate your staff.

It’s been hard for me to come back from a leadership conference, inspired at its potential, only to find myself more acutely aware of the dysfunction I exist in on a daily basis.

During the sessions, I fond myself in wonder of what-could-be. There are actually leaders out there who think like this? Who inspire their staff? Who have goals and visions and actually pursue them? Who don’t just try to keep their heads above water? Who strive after other things than not failing? Who actually lead?

It’s a concept that, unfortunately, had become foreign to me.
