Mandi’s comment; my addition

Mandi recently commented on my last post and I couldn’t help but bring to light the verses she referenced in Jeremiah 8. I’m going to focus on verses 8-12:

How can you say, “We know the score.

We’re the proud owners of GOD’s revelation”?

Look where it’s gotten you–stuck in illusion.

Your religion experts have taken you for a ride!

Your know-it-alls will be unmasked,

caught and shown up for what they are.

Look at them! They know everything but GOD’s Word.

Do you call that “knowing”?

“”So here’s what will happen to the know-it-alls:

I’ll make them wifeless and homeless.

Everyone’s after the dishonest dollar,

little people and big people alike.

Prophets and priests and everyone in-between

twist words and doctor truth.

My dear Daughter–my people–broken, shattered,

and yet they put on band-aids,

Saying, “It’s not so bad. You’ll be just fine.”

But things are not “just fine”!

Do you suppose they are embarrassed

over this outrage?

Not really. They have no shame.

They don’t even know how to blush.

There’s no hope for them. They’ve hit bottom

and there’s no getting up.

As far as I’m concerned,

they’re finished.'” GOD has spoken.

Wow. And add that to sections of Luke 11, which I read as part of Chuck Pierce’s 25-day prayer focus:

And He said, “Woe to you also, lawyers! For you load men with burdens hard to bear, and you yourselves do not touch the burdens with one of your fingers. Woe to you! For you build the tombs of the prophets, and your fathers killed them. In fact, you bear witness that you approve the deeds of your fathers; for they indeed killed them, and you build their tombs. Therefore the wisdom of God also said, ‘I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they will kill and persecute,’ that the blood of all the prophets which was shed from the foundation of the world may be required of this generation, from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah who perished between the altar and the temple. Yes, I say to you, it shall be required of this generation. “Woe to you lawyers! For you have taken away the key of knowledge. You did not enter in yourselves, and those who were entering in you hindered.”

Religious elite–beware. And also pretty much anyone who feels his or her infinite wisdom and knowledge of God earns them the Father’s approval and a seat at His right hand.
