From Joy Frangipane, reflecting on her inability to rebel against the Lord and her father, who prayed her through those years:
The reason we can never outrun God is because He is that seed growing within us. Once you have tasted the presence of the Lord, nothing satisfies you like He can. Sometimes those who seem to be running the hardest from God are doing so because He is so close to them.
It seems the Godhead doesn’t have much regard for socially-acceptable personal space norms. They get right-in close, even if it means driving a person away for a period until he or she gets used to being near Them.
I’m surrounded by Three. And I’m no Barry Sanders… I’m more like the immobile Scott Mitchell and I just got sacked again.
That’s kinda how it feels right now. I feel surrounded on all sides by Them and terribly uncomfortable. I feel trapped. I want badly to get away, but at the same time know I have nowhere to go.
The Word says when we draw near to Him, he’ll draw near to us. He has… and my flesh just doesn’t know how to react. I’m antsy… fidgety… yet lethargic and bored. I’m often frustrated and lonely, unwilling to acknowledge Their presence even though They’re right there.
But there is something growing in me… this new man is still forming and developing. I would say that he hasn’t even been born yet–just conceived. I’m not even a babe, let alone a full-blown mature man in Christ.
“Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.” – 2 Thes. 5:23-24
