Known mostly for his smart humor or his keen nose for human interest, who would’a thought Mitch Album could bring the heat about gas prices?
Well, I would have. Because good writers can write well about most anything. Just give their passion some direction.
And Album certainly is passionate in this Free Press column. My favorite bit:
Meanwhile, we keep shelling out for gas-guzzling trucks and SUVs. We keep accepting our politicians’ foot-dragging on alterative energies. We keep complaining about imminent danger from certain foreign countries, while continuing to send those countries billions for their oil. Fine. That’s our choice.
You may wonder why he’s going off on gas prices when they are so (relatively) low. Well, I think that’s kinda that point. We’re accepting the prices because of how high they had been… and we’ll pretty much accept them however high they go.
Because we’re Americans. And nothing is going to get in our way.
One reply on “This ain’t no Tuesday’s With Morrie”
Mitch is brilliant.
But I do have to say, it’s even more terrible living in the city, buying more gas and going less miles for more money. Ack. It’s annoying!
