After requesting information from the University of Michigan’s Master of Fine Arts program about 6-9 months ago, I finally received their program "catalog," if you want to call it that…
Believe me, the positive impression of the mailing completely usurped the negative impression of its tardiness.
First off, it came in a tube…not a flat, yellow, padded envelope like probably 95 percent of schools would utilize. So, intrigue was instilled pretty early. Inside is a single piece of paper about poster-size, orange on one side, neutral on the other. No writing on the orange side…just color.
The other side is abstract design at its finest, creatively communicating the program’s uniqueness and essential details. Just enough to stir one to: 1) be part of the program and 2) visit the Web site.
UMich MFA admissions office: mission accomplished.
(In a very Prince-like voice)
I want my…I want my…I want my MFA.
