“Vista” or “The next incarnation”

They say it will bring clarity. That remains to be seen. While I’m certainly not a Windows cynic like nearly all Mac users and several others who basically find it hip to diss Windows, I’m not a Microsoft sellout either.

But nevertheless, the thought of a new OS with upgraded features and horsepower is somewhat exciting. And today Microsoft announced the renaming of their new operating system, due next year. Welcome Windows Vista–formerly codenamed Longhorn.

I think Longhorn is cooler, just like I thought Ultra 64 was a better name for the Nintendo 64. But what say do I have…

Anyway, there is little information on Vista on Microsoft’s official site, as you can see if you followed the link. I’ve read some preliminary stuff about Longhorn, which should apply to Vista. Sounds like it will be another major step forward, but it’s still a way behind OS X–according to Mac users.

But all Apple stuff is better, according to Mac users :)
